Many centuries ago, when the dragons triumphed in a most grievous war, they drove us down into the deep places of the earth.
But now, to escape a fate most cruel, I must flee. There is but one path before me — and it leadeth upward—toward the sun.
Yet the way is fraught with peril, and many are the trials I must endure. At every turn, some invisible hand comes to my aid. Providence? Perhaps. But every time, a fugitive convict is nearby– gaunt and grim, silent and dangerous, and he wants nothing to do with me.
